*straight person voice* my partner and I (we don’t like the terms “husband and wife”) have separate checking accounts, therefore queering the vanilla expectations of marriage. we are part of the queer community. I love xojane.

During World War II, Josephine Baker served with the French Red Cross and was an active member of the French resistance movement. Using her career as a cover Baker became an intelligence agent, carrying secret messages written in invisible ink on her sheet music. She was awarded the Croix de Guerre, and received a Medal of the Resistance in 1946. In 1961 she received the highest French honor, the Legion d’Honneur awarded by then President Charles de Gaulle.
Our loss, U.S.A….

If you don’t admire the shit out of J. Baker, who was also pretty openly bisexual and adopted NINETEEN children in addition to the badassery mentioned above, I want you to go sit in the corner and think about your life choices.

um she was also a huge civil rights activist and her refusal to perform for segregated audiences at major clubs that were fallin over themselves to book her helped de-segregate vegas performance venues
aaaand she had a pet cheetah

and she and Frida Kahlo had an affair

Frida Kahlo & Josephine Baker "There is evidence to suggest that Baker was bisexual. Her son Jean-Claude Baker and co-author Chris Chase state inJosephine: The Hungry Heart that she was involved in numerous lesbian affairs, both while she was single and married, and mention six of her female lovers by name. Clara Smith, Evelyn Sheppard, Bessie Allison, Ada “Bricktop” Smith, and Mildred Smallwood were all African-American women whom she met while touring on the black performing circuit early in her career. She was also reportedly involved intimately with French writer Colette. Not mentioned, but confirmed since, was her affair with Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.[21] Jean-Claude Baker, who interviewed over 2,000 people while writing his book, wrote that affairs with women were not uncommon for his mother throughout her lifetime.[22]" (.)

Yo so if anyone in the bay would like to take in this handsome lazy guy he needs a home. I feel super shitty posting this because I want to be living with him again but I haven’t had any luck finding a place where I would be able to keep him. My old roommate who adopted Hank when we were living together isn’t able keep him at his house so he’s looking for someone around the Sacramento or Bay Area that would want to take care of him. Obviously isn’t something either of us want to do because he should be staying with one of us but we’re running out of time and this is the last option we have right now. Hit me up if you are interested and we can talk more about it.

I swear to fucking god I hate people. My old roommate found people to take care of Hank the day after I posted this and now he got a call from a shelter saying they found Hank wondering the streets and if no one comes to pick him up by monday they’re going to have to put him down. The people he was given to said they’re not going to take him back. Fuck I don’t know what to do right now.

Is there anyone who follows me in the Bay Area or Sacramento who can take care of hank??
